Gizelle de Guzman has stood steadfast in developing her gleaming country style which threads the needle between Canadian traditional heart and global modern energy laid out on an emotional bed of transparency. Singles previously released like, “Almost Home”, “Raise a Glass” and “We Don’t Love Like That Anymore”, hints at the continuing evolution of this multi-genre artist & songwriter. Born in the Philippines, raised in Cremona, Alberta and now native to Nova Scotia, Gizelle's colourful affair with her journey has translated into songful stories of truth, love, loss and openness. It is the embrace of these transitions that has helped her discover her signature sound that has recently sparked a list of worthy accolades and new interests.

Through her many life trials, Gizelle has been no stranger to mental health issues. Boldly, she has adopted her music as a vehicle to help address these adversities by turning it into an advantage for others to see, hear and experience. Her most recent single “Almost Home” released March 2021, pays tribute to her declaration of who she’s now becoming, leaving old ideas behind and going after what you want confidently. One of her more notable appearances emphasizing this message includes her performance of one of her own compositions “Good Girl”, off the “Good Girl” EP, at Country 105.1 (Calgary) for the 2016 Annual Caring for Kids Radiothon in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. She’s also made her mark entertaining huge crowds as a speaker and performer at the globally acclaimed Jack.org’s Atlantic Regional Summit 2022 and WE Day Atlantic 2019.

Gizelle has honoured a variety of venues from small stages to large festivals; performing at the notorious Halifax Busker Festival 2021 and 2020 and the revelled Evergreen Festival in 2021 and 2020 and pre-covid Nova Scotia Music Week, Ponoka Stampede and Big Valley Jamboree Talent Stage. She has also been invited to sing the national anthem at various events such as the CIS Men’s Final 8 Basketball Championship in Scotiabank Centre, Enactus Canada National Exposition in Vancouver, Calgary Police Rodeo, and Sundre Junior Rodeo.
Recently, Gizelle’s self-directed music video for her latest release, “Almost Home” won Silver for the 2022 The Coast “Best Music Video” and it made the Semi-Finals of the 2021 International Songwriting Competition. Gizelle has also garnered the 2019 Bronze Winner for The Coast “Best New Artist/Band” and one of the Top 14 finalists of The Shot: Remastered 2020, making it clear to see where Gizelle has come from to where she is heading.
